Default Russell Brand offends America

Hehe. What a legend.
Quote:
Despite being British and relatively unknown in the US, Brand was chosen to host the 25th anniversary show of the awards which saw Britney Spears walk away with three awards, including video of the year.

Brand appeared to annoy some of the celebrities in attendance with his blunt remarks, although he did receive cheers for backing US Presidential candidate Barack Obama.

He said: "As a representative of the global community, a visitor from abroad, I don't want to come across a little bit biased, but could I please ask of you, people of America, please elect Barack Obama, please, on behalf of the world.
"Some people, I think they're called racists, say America is not ready for a black president.
"But I know America to be a forward thinking country because otherwise why would you have let that retard and cowboy fella be president for eight years.
"We were very impressed. We thought it was nice of you to let him have a go, because, in England, he wouldn't be trusted with a pair of scissors."

Brand also took a shot at Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin.
Speaking of Palin's daughter's boyfriend, Levi Johnston, Brand said: "That is the safe sex message of all time. Use a condom or become a Republican!"

The comedian angered some in attendance by repeatedly joking about the Jonas Brothers, the sons of a pastor, all of whom wear purity rings as a symbol of their vow not to have premarital sex.

American Idol winner Jordin Sparks called Brand a "slut" when she came on stage, prompting Brand to apologise to the boy band.
He said: "I didn't mean to take it lightly" before adding, "a little sex once and a while never hurt anybody."
America has flipped over his appearance Maybe it's too much for the Yanks, but it made me laugh
Quote:
The Chicago Tribune wrote that “Nobody quite knew what to make of the opening monologue of wild-haired host Russell Brand”, while MTV’s online message boards were besieged by confused and outraged Americans.
One message read: "Why is it that Brits think the rest of the world doesn't get their humour? The myth is a tired excuse for lack of humour."
Another said: "Russell WHO? I didn't realise this show was an Osama (sic) campaign rally. This British nobody looks like he was pulled from the ranks of the homeless - with his unshaved look, rats' nest hair-do and foul mouth."

It's about time someone confronted the Yanks rather than fear the religious wrath!

It's funny when they get British 'humor' because they like Monty Python. That was slapstick, and you're more likely to get a slap rather than a laugh if you repeat any damn line of 'The Life of Brian'!

Well no wonder they didn't get the joke....
Sadly...That's more truth than humor.
Bush is a retard cowboy.
(and the worse president in US history)

Haven't been to the states lately, huh???
Free speech is dead in America.
Nowdays the Politically Correct rule.
Can't say anything that might even possibly offend anyone....that goes for the once ruling "religious right" as well. Your religious beliefs are bound to offend someone.
Can't make jokes about the president either without raising eyebrows.
Saying anything in public that's not politically correct is frowned upon...if not banned.
And will cost you your job no matter if you are a big star or a jaintor.

They call this "The Land of the Free".... but what is free???
Certainly not free speech....not anymore.
And God knows they are not talking about healthcare!!!
All totaled.. my get off and broken collarbone will cost me enough to have bought a new FJ1300.
Ouch...now that really hurts.

Am I the only one who doesn't find it funny? The guy is supposed t be a comedian, yet what he said isn't funny or even that clever - Just having a dig at Americans and you lot lap it up as "real British humour"??? I don't think so.

Why is it that the British have such massive chips on their shoulders?

ps. I am British
