Default Carbs, but not the normal questions

I have a good question for you all.
I know that I need to balance my carbs and have the gauges and most of the know how but the Haynes suggests applying a vacuum to the fuel tap so the fuel can run through with a little tool. Does anyone know of a way around this as I would like to work on it tonight. I have checked old threads and nothing is stated. Cheers follow SVer's

Thats the thing. Sorry forgot to say it's a 99 curvy. The bugger don't have a fuel tap on it! Any other suggestions?

Make sure you've ridden the bike / got it upto operating temperature, take the tank off & just balance the carbs if necessary, I'm tipping they won't be too far-out, and you should find there's enough juice in the float bowls to complete the operation without running out of petrol.......

Get a mityvac? Will come in handy too for bleeding your brakes when you overhaul them every year.

Though that does mean spending more cash, though, on top of the vaccum guage that you may have just purchased!

I use the ever-handy Big Syringe, every garage should have one. I should use my mityvac but I don't know where it is. But just sucking on the hose works.
