Just spent £90 on this delivered and when we opened the box the seat is great. But the base that goes against the seat in the car has no provision to spread the load of the seat and childs weight. In the picture you can see the two arrows showing the thin plastic which is the only contact with the car all the way down the back and slightly underneath, then there is a nice wide base which is ok.
The seat has good reviews and looks good quality, so I dont doubt its safety features. My beef is the damage to our car and the further cost to repair it. All they needed to do was mould a return on this thin plastic edge and it would have had two advantages. 1, The load would be spread and offer better stability of the seat. And most likey better safety. 2, The plastic edges would not dig and easily cut the cars interior. Good job we dont have a nice BMW with leather cos this would knacker that in no time! I am a moany old git, yes I agree. But should I return this and do we think I have a point. Go on, tear me apart or agree. I will decide on what I hear here... |

personally any item that is intended for use which by its design damages or could cause damage to the interface is faulty..
you dont put diesel in your petrol car (unless you own a ducati and are called pete, oh wait that a motorbike) because it would damage it, in the same way you wouldnt store something sharp on your interior because it would damage it... thats sharp... and might damage it.. so by defining logic, if its unused and ur not happy take it back. hth |

Can't you go somewhere like Mothercare that would take the car seat out to your car and ensure it fits correctly without damage to your car? If it is not suitable for your car then they could suggest a different type more suited that would not cause the damage. I am sure other places would offer this kind of service too

If the rest of the seat was well designed and safe then I'd be inclined to fashion a cushion for those two strips using pipe lagging.

Send it back and get something better as it will only annoy you. Last time we looked at cars I remeber seeing a few with indents in the leather from car seats.
