Default Rear reflector

Good morning Forumites, hope the road was dry and traffic free for you this morning.

Last night I fitted a new pert bottom to my bike to replace the ridiculously large plastic shovel. (£50 from Evotech, fitted it in about 90 minutes, straight on no bother). The tail tidy came with tiny reflective sticker but no obvious place to shove it. I can fit the original reflector to the bottom of mu number plate, but this (a) hidees the plate makers name & address and (b) looks crap, so the question is: Does a bike need a rear reflector? If so, how big and where does it have to be? And if anyones has "accidentally" fallen off how grumpy was the old bill about it?

Have a peaceful day

Yes, comes in handy if you ever park on the side of the road in the dark and if you ever lose the rear lights the reflector is better than nothing!

Rearward facing, has to be 'E' or 'BS' approved to be really fussy.

Not be spotted yet, I stick one onto the numberpalte of the 800 when I drop it off for a MOT's and then remove it when I pick it up.

It needs one for the MOT if done to the book, having no reflector has caused me any problems yet and no copper has noticed it either in the last eight years.

'Tis exactly what I've done - got the same tail tidy! Fitted it just before last MOT (with a bit of dremel action as the four holes on the plate didn't line up with the four holes on the subframe grrr) and whacked the sticker in the bottom left corner just before it was wheeled through the doors of the testing station!

Passed with flying colours.

Did you refit the standard indicators? If so, do they fit OK? Mine seem to be a bit loose, even with the rubber spacers fitted. Might need a bit of bodging. My unit fitted to the subframe no problems, so they've either sorted the machining or a K6 has holes in a slightly different place to a K4.

I did have a thought just now (unusual for a Friday, and quite painful) that maybe the mini reflector might fit to the end of the housing for the number plate light. Will try this pm.

You can stick on your reflector, but the reflector must not be a sticker!
Lack of rear reflector was one of the things an NW4'er got pulled up on by the Police (& let off)
