Default HD Telly grrr

Bought a freesat HD sat box from the Maplin 'buy one take it back twice until you get a working one because we sell nothing but rubbish makes' range.
HD picture is awesome, but why oh why is there nothing but cack on there? Only a few hours a night and it gets taken up with Johnathan effing Ross most nights, or some yawnsome dumbed down for the masses thriller like silent witness. They have started Heroes, but dismally showed episode 2 first last week, episode 1 tonight. Come on BBC, get your finger out, get some decent HD sport on there, thats what HD ought to be all about.
Then again, ITV HD has yet to show a single programme.

I know $ky has been HD for some time, but I'm never going to put a penny in their pocket.

Rant over, blood pressure back to normal. carry on.

I would just like to add that the digital reception where I live is crap when it rains and you have to revert back which gives you a limited channel choice. We don't live in a cable area and I think SKY is expensive for the amount of time I watch telly

We've got Virgin on a good deal with free Setanta (for all I watch it). Mainly watch it for Discovery or Eurosport. Need a new freeview box though for one of the other tellys as its on the blink.

Hate the Virgin brand too (Just ask how badly their virgin atlantic staff are treated)

Sky and the silly people at Freesat are making it very hard for everyone, why could ITV not just put their HD channel on the Sky platform just like BBC and C4 have done, why do consumers have to have two boxes to get 50/50 split of HD services. To make it all worse the ITV implimentation of HD does not conform to H.264, they use H.222 which is only used on the Freesat box, so it clearly shows an intention to create a propriatary system to lock out the sky users or anyone that does not want to use the freesat box, H264 is supported on the SkyHD box.

grrr, very very annoying

Also why when E4 is a free channel, its not considered free on the Sky Platform. Sky does not consider all the freeview channels as free on their service.

another grrrr
