As I mentioned on a previous thread (but didn't want to hi-jack) I've been suffering with my hands being sore, sometimes after not very long on the bike. Being a girlie I don't have a lot of upper body strength at all and know I need to improve it alongwith my forearm and hand strength to help my enjoyment on the bike. Just wondering if anyone has any good ideas for what would help. Or will it all come with time on the bike as my muscles get conditioned to being in new positions?
I've always had strong legs due to years as a kid horseriding, doing gymnastics, roller skating etc but I'm definitely needing to work on my upper body. Cheers for your help ![]() |

One of these things may help, does your forearms more but these are a big factor in your hand strength too.
![]() Another option is like a bicep curl but for your wrist only, can be done both ways. Another option again is push-ups with your hands and fingers spread out. |

Apparently, squeezing a ball will help.
A rubber one that is, before all the guys leg it! ![]()

My mate used to have one of these, meant to be really good for strengthening wrists! You pull the string out to get the ball spinning and you have to keep the momentum going by continually moving your wrist round and round, good fun!
![]() Rubber balls or them stress ball things are great too, as Lissa mentioned. |
