Default Arlen Ness leather question

Hi,

Does anyone have a set of Arlen Ness 1pc LS1-4290 or Mugello leathers? I'm after a new set and these look like what I am after. I currently have a set of Spyke 40 cyber-1 leathers, yet these have got quite tight around the chest and thigh areas and are really starting to restrict movement.

The problem is I am in Australia and the choices are very limited - forget Arlen Ness - They stock Dainese, Alpinestars, Swift, Rjays (cheap Aussie) and then you may find random single suits by a manufacturer!

Bottom line is I would need to order online from Europe, but have to be pretty certain on size before ordering as I can't return the leathers if they're are too small/big - especially since they are Kangaroo leathers which I haven't had before.

So, if you have these leathers or similar - what is your size - waist, height etc and which size did you buy?

Thanks
Luke

Kangaroo leather is more adaptable to body shape, in that it will shrink or stretch to suit being that much thinner for the same strength as cow-hide.

Sorry I can't personally help with sizing, but Graham at GLF Accessories might be able to as he's a very clued up Arlen Ness stockist who does international mail order should you need it.

Ironic, buying kanagaroo leather from Europe. Just think of your 'leather-miles'

Hey Lozzo,

Yep, already found that! Thanks, though I not keen on blue. I recognised the web address as being your mate, but didn't want to hassle him since I probably would have to buy from elsewhere (as he only as one set left)

My dilemma is basically whether to order a 40 or 42 given that my current 40 is a little too tight.

Phone him and ask, he has masses of experience of sizing people. I'm sure he won't mind and might even be able to find exactly what you need from somewhere. You don't know til you try.

That's because the good kangaroo hides go for premium money to overseas manufacturers who buy big. That only leaves the older, cheaper and not as strong hides for the local market.

Kangaroo hides from animals culled later in the day are the better ones. Those culled in the morning deteriorate very quickly in the heat and aren't worth as much by the time they reach the tannery. You've got to remember that these carcasses are thrown in the back of a ute and driven in the sun all day long until they can offload them in the evening. Once they are in the tannery it's obvious which ones are the older hides purely by the smell.
