Default should joe calzaghe retire?

or should he go for Rocky Marciano's record 49 fights undefeated

super joe has gone 46 fights undefeated

hes only 36 years old, and i think he has the fitness, but not sure who would fight, and i would rather him retire now than fight "bums" just to beat the record

It a tough one,

He could do a couple of easy wins, but thats a bit like cheating. but there isn't any who would pose much of a fight after Jones

I think he should quit while he is at the top of his game

He definitely should not retire, he should go for Rocky Marciano's record 49 fights undefeated and is so close already to achieving that goal.

I think he's getting better as he goes on. In the last 2 fights he has been knocked down in the first but has then come back, altered his style and outboxed both fighters. I think theres a potential for possibly 3 rematches but even if he had a rematch with Jones at Cardiff, it would be a great finale.

He is a great fighter. I was sorry to have missed the fight this weekend.

This was sposed to be his final fight. If he does a few more, great. If not- fair play. He's had a great career. I think an important thing with boxing is to know when to stop...

true, but what if he loses the 49th? would he rather have a 46/0 47/0 or 48/0 as opposed to a 49/1?

i say retire. there's nothing left for him to prove/achieve thats worthwhile imho

+1 Calzaghe should definately retire whilst his record is intact.

The fight at the w/e was great, but I dont think the result would have been the same had it occurred when Jones was at his peak, not trying to take anything away from Joe.

Jones should have retired 5/6 years ago rather than continue and turn into a shaddow of his former self. I hope Calzaghe doesnt make the same mistake.

Classic Jones:

Yes, retire.
Would be a shame to see him falter at this point.
He is great and should remain so.
