I spend £600 on a set of dainese 2 piece womens leathers. These where the best investment i've made since biking. Seems like a lot of money initially but when i tried them on they fitted perfectly.
The have paid for themselves, I wore them everyday to work and then to uni. The trousers suffered no damage being folded and placed in a rucksack, and the jacket actually lookedpretty cool ![]() Just to ensure the leathers did work I smashed into a car at 40mph and landed in a ditch. Even through the armour i was left battered and bruised but only suffered a broken hand. The armour did not move at any point or end up damaged in any way. They clean up well and are great to wear, highly recomended ![]() Last edited by kirsteenshort; 07-07-08 at 07:59 AM. |

I love mine too, great fit and very comfortable, not had to test them yet.
The ones that disagree are the ones that have never tried them because they a) cant afford to spend so much on leathers b) cant justify spending so much on leathers

Your statement above exemplifies the attitude of so many designer bikers nowadays - "I've got lots of money to throw away on kit, it costs huge anounts so it must be good" - you couldn't be further from the truth if you took a 24 hour flight from it. Some of us don't buy Alpinestars and Dainese leathers because we've seen how badly they fare in tarmac interfaces, and choose to put our hard earned money into better quality garments that will work when needed. Tipping into a ditch at 40mph is not the same as sliding down the tarmac on a trackday at over 100mph, and I've seen Dainese leathers that have had a whole arm ripped off in a 40mph slide on the road. I wouldn't trust them one little bit. Designer label leathers are great for posing in, but don't work in real crash situations. I own one pair of Alpinestars MX boots which are excellent, but the Dainese ones I wore for a total of 900 miles ended up being thrown in a bin in Lyon becasue they chopped my ankles to shreds and I rode the rest of my tour of the S. France in hi top Nike trainers. A/stars make great boots and gloves, but their leathers, like Dainese's, are crap. |

My a*s did the same, stopped me from smashing my shoulder and left just a graze on the shoulder of the jacket. Armour looks okay to keep using too. Tried and tested
![]() Glad your okay - and it was lucky it was a ditch you landed in!

I've got an alpinestars octane suite. I use alpine stars gloves too and oxtar (tcx) boots. I knew dainese were fashion items didn't know alpinestars were too. Ah well I don;t wear them on the track and it;s got to be better than tracky's and a tanktop.

While people are talking about leathers, what are the best make to go for? I have some but am going to purchase new ones early next year, since I'm sticking with this biking lark.
I sort of thought alpinetsras and dainese were good uns - what other makes are worth looking out for then? |

!
I thought they were more showoffy than dainese! They do look good though. I thought wolf were a good brand, seen some racers in them, so imagine the abrasion of the leather and quality of armour is upto scratch.
