Do I install an alarm on the bike that is only worth less than £2000, as while out and about I feel the bike is vunerable with only the steering lock activated, and on the odd occassion a disk lock being used.
![]() Any advice would be gladly digested. |

On a two grand bike, personally I wouldnt bother. If they want it they'll take it, whether its alarmed or not.

I have an alarm on my sv only for the reason in the 1st year, i couldnt get reasonable insurance without it! Nowaday i just use the imobiliser part of the alarm (mainly because i live net to the railway and the trains set the alarm off)

Mine got stolen just over 2 weeks ago with the alarm on it. Though it didn't stop the theft, it alerted me enough that I got the police on the phone basically as it was being stolen. The bike was recovered 4 days later, and looking at the damage to the bike, it seems the people who took it were so frustrated with the alarm going off all the time that they just dumped it.
Honestly? Not really worth it. |

Interesting comments, and maybe the added expense is not worth the inevitable of the bike being stolen. I'll just stick with a disk lock, and steering lock for now...and hope the bike stays safe.
Thanks all. |

Disguise it as a curvy... oh wait... you have
![]() Mechanical deterrent are the best, a bike with alarm can be easily stolen, one attached to something can't. As for how much to spend on a chain? an angle grinder will go through anything fairly rapidly so IMHO, don't break the bank... |
