Default Recommend me.........

A laptop.

Budget is approx £700 as once you start going over this you don't get many extra features for you buck.

It's to use at home on the sofa and whilst away in my hotel room. It needs to have good screen so's I can watch DVD's (Maybe BlueRay too but I'm undecided as yet!), obviously it'll be up to surfing the web, needs to be dual core and reasonably recent/good spec. Would prefer 17" screen but may be convinced into a 15.4" sceen if the price/product is right. I don't care about the weight too much as I won't be walking long distance with it, nor carrying it for long.

Was looking at a couple a month or so ago that were just over 1K but I'm thinking this is too much for a laptop that'll be going on the road with me!

Thanks in advance

Dell make good laptops, especially thier XPS range which come in either 15" or 17". However I would ask why you want to watch blu-rays on such a small screen??? Also take a look on ebuyer as their are often some great deals on their (although to find them you will have to look through a lot of laptops, maybe 300+).

I wouldn't bother with blueray. Even on a 17" screen you'd never notice any difference.

I'd go with a macbook. But that's 12"

Check out HP.

I've got an HP DV9700. It's a 17 inch screen with keypad (couldn't live without it). Designed for entertainment apparently and on high performance it'll play a lot of games and DVDs no problem at all. Looks great and the one shown has 4gb of ram and mine's only got 2. Obviously there's plenty out there Good luck!
(tesco has a decent laptop sale on too)

I have a HD screen at home so's could watch the dvd's on this. As said, I'm not convinced on the BlueRay as yet, just trying to future proof!

Oh ok cool. Bear in mind for £800, a blueray drive will swallow up a fair bit of that. Also; blueray is going to die a sad death soon. Downloaded content is going to be the next standard.

If you fancy a toshiba run it past me first. I rate them (slight bias). Sony are overpriced but good, quite like hp. Acer are trying to sort themselves out but I still wouldn't touch them. Not fond of fujitsu or dell (something 'not quite right') I will have missed someone off...

Have a peek at www.cbccomputers.com if there's anything you like I might be able to get you a discount but to be honest I don;t think we make much at all on laptops.
