here is the science.... nice thin bike tyres can find grip on the road by ploughing thru the snow...

Big fat wide (fairly low on tred) car tyres = fairly usless on snow
+ rear wheel drive = stranded at the first hill.....

Ive ridden a few times in these conditions, hardest bit is getting onto the main road, hopfully its a well used road and gritted, keep your distance and dont rush through lights, slow down well in advance and keep an eye on mirrors for drivers not slowing down. No harsh or quick movements, stay in the center of the lane at lights as car engines keep ice and snow of that part. Try to keep the front brake to a minimum, use back, if it locks up, let off and reapply, use engine braking to slow to the lights. Stay safe, if yr worried about riding, then dont ride.

Get a light bike...., put it up the front this evening and it was all over the place, but so light even my duff leg didn't have a problem with it.

Mind you when I put it up it was like this

after half an hour it was like this

Cheers Mark.

Well,I will definately be taking the cage today.
Just having my breakfast now and after looking out of the window there is no way on this planet that the bike is going anywhere.
