A little while a go my sv was tickin over strangley, what felt like running on 1 cylinder then all of the sudden (5 secs or so later) it would go back to full power and it kept cutting out when i came to a stop.
I then told my dad who rode it and typically it didnt have any problems. A couple of days later i changed the plugs oil + filter and cleaned the air filter, but just the other day it started to cut out and tick over funny again, could of been my injector cleaner either the bike not like it or it cleaned some rubbish out but stopped went back to it 15 mins later ad fine. Just wondering if other have had this problem and how they have overcome it. Thanks ![]() |

This could be one of many things really. Might be worth elliminating things one by one to start with.
Start with the easy stuff, is the battery charged fully, battery leads tight to the battery? Did it just start happening all of a sudden or has it gradually got worse? Its more likely to be an electrical fault rather than the injectors in my experience. Its worth setting the bike in 'dealer mode' to see if its displaying any error codes that might be useful. You can find instructions here on the site to do that. |

I had this problem when my bike got really wet whilst washing it. Good dry out and it was right as rain.

Had these symptoms before at this time of year. (wet and damp) Cutting onto one then back onto two eventually. Not nice in traffic.
Check your front plug cap is securely sealed. Infact pull it out and get some electrical grease/compound/DC4 around the top of the cap to prevent any water going in. Never had it cut onto one since..... even when fjording ![]() I have my idle speed turned up a wee bit as well (coupla hundred RPM?) to stop it stalling at inoppurtune moments when cold(I'm too lazy to turn more throttle.) Hope its as simple as this. ![]() Last edited by STRAMASHER; 04-02-09 at 09:16 AM. Reason: Punktchuashon |
