Hi all,
First off I tried searching but could not find what I was looking for, so don't flame me please. I've got a 04 k3 pointy and I'm getting really fed up with the snatchy throttle. The bike is a real pain in the butt in these frosty/ice conditions we are having at the moment. It is fitted with a viper exhaust and K and N air filter (if this helps ). It has done 22,000 miles. Are there any ECU settings that can be changed ( my brother has a XT660X and he can change his CO2 settings ) or do I have to fork out for a power commander ?? My son has a 56 plate pointy and that is completely different, much much better. I don't want to sell it 'cos I love the bike but it is really ****ing me off now. Thanks. Myke |

take a read through this thread about adjusting your throttle position sensor.
http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=55459 Sounds like you have a similar problem. |

remove the slack from the cable
i really hated the throttle until i did that, now i ride all my bikes with zero throttle play and much prefer it just make sure the cable cable isn't pulling on the throttle body butterflies when the throttle is closed...

Check your chain tension and the general condition of the chain aswell. I know when my chain needs some attention, because I get a snatchy throttle aswell. Its quite suprising what a little bit of gunky stuff smeared over your chain will do to your bike...
Also, see what something like V-power fuel does. With my carb'ed 1999 SV, i find that from completly shut throttle to just a whisper of throttle applied, V-power provides a smoother throttle response. Might just be me, but I definatly have noticed a differance. |

Cheers all, I'll check my throttle cables tomorrow night, and I'll look at my chain and TPS at the weekend, I had the same problem with one of my cars, and had to do the same thing, I should have thought really. lol.
Thanks guys. |

When you are checking this turn the steering to full lock eachway.
