Default SV650s double pull of the clutch?

I've had my sv for a few weeks now and it's only got 1500 on the clock. I've noticed that when I've switched into neutral at traffic lights and then go to click into first when the lights turn green, sometimes the gear lever won't move and I have to let go of the clutch and then pull it again to be able to get to first. Is this normal with the SV??

Adjust your chain. That may be the issue.
Sequential gearboxes occasionally get 'stuck' they don't like changing gear stationary, you normally just have to let the clutch out to biting point and it will then move into gear.
But changing from neutral to 1st shouldn't be a pain.

Boot it!

.... you don't have to be to gentle.

It will get easier with more miles/familiararity (?)

Also check your oil level. They may have been a bot ott when setting the bike up. It should be between the F & E marks on the window when the bike is upright on level ground. If its over the full mark, this can cause issues.

+1. If it doesn't want to go into gear, keep pressure on the lever and slowly let the clutch out a little.

That way it'll pop into gear without causing unnecessary damage to the gear box.

Please don't stamp a bike from neutral to first. Not unless you like paying for a new gearbox that is.

As Baph described... The idea is to get the gearbox turning a little so that the dogs can align and drop in as they turn. Usually the drag created by oil between the clutch plates is enough to keep the gearbox input shaft turning a little in neutral, so I'd be checking oil level and maybe the clutch adjustment.
Same thing applies (except reversed) if you ever do something like pull up in 3rd gear and can't get it back down through the gears. Roll the bike to rotate the countershaft with the clutch in and pressure on the lever.

Booting the lever will ultimately result in expensive damage to the selector mechanism.

Cheers
