Default Looking to get a SV650 K3/K4

After passing my test last Monday, I've decided I want to get a SV650 K3/K4.

My budget for a bike is £1800, I spoke to 2 mates who have/had an SV they said for that age that should be a fair budget to have, my main reason for that about is because of insurance and me being 17 its going to be about £550 for TPFT which is a ball breaker.

(Originally I was going to wait till I was 18 but the difference is approx £22)

I've looked on fleabay, not my preferred method to buy though, as well as autotrader locally and I can't seem to find many of this model, unless I'm obvious and very blind.

As its my first bike, wondering if anybody could give me advice in relation to buying? The riding questions will come after I've been out for the first time and left brown stains.

Cheers

Congrats on the pass, sounds a fair budget might see a you a slightly higher milage bike tho.

I'd shop around for insurance i paid less then that when i was 17 for my SV brand new.

Im now 22 left the biking world for 2 years (how foolish was i) and have lost all my NCB because i didnt run a policy so im starting again and got it this time for £325 again brand new and even un garaged. IIRC that was using confused.com who found Hastings to be the cheapest for me.

Only advice I can give you is to try get k4 onwards really as the k3 has a few parts that are unique to that year so parts are harder to find second hand if need be, the only real advantage of the k3 being that the mirror arms are slightly longer (don't know why Suzuki changed this on later models).
Edit; mirrors only apply to 's' model

And yeh hasting is 21+ parents are with them.

A friend has a K4 the mirrors are pretty awful, well its either K3 or K4, whatever comes up.

I've seen a K3 13,000 for £1,600 all standard which is tempting, have emailed the bloke about it regarding services / tyres.
