Default CAM swap for 1st Generation

I have swapped second generation intake cams into my 1st generation and it seems to be stumbling, slightly, on acceleration. Any re-jetting tips?

Yes, plenty but check you've got carbs and airbox all properly refitted first.

Yes that's it. Adds a tiny bit of top end power as the pointy cams are slightly hotter.

IIRC with pointy cams, filter and decent full system you can get just about 80bhp

It shouldn't affect the fuelling... But if the fuelling's already marginal it could make it worse, that's pretty much what I found. Did you put the old intake cams into the exhaust side while you were at it? If not, go back and do it

Dappa, basically when the K3 came along, Suzuki looked at the race cams available, and saw that some added power without hurting the mids, so they stole the specs and used them on the later bikes. So you get slightly hotter cams- that's where all the extra power came from on the later model, not the fuel injection as some think. But it still has fairly restrictive exhaust cams, I reckon for emissions reasons. But the pointy intake cams in the intake, and the curvy intake cams in the exhaust, are a very good cheap setup for both flavours of SV.

2nd generation intake cams into 1st generation intake position, the removed 1st generation intake cams placed into the exhaust cam position. The cam swap procedure is outlined at:
http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/fo...hreadid=154847

Coupled with an exhaust change, the cam swap allegedly generates + - 10 hp increase. See dyno report at:http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/fo....php?p=3832024 How much of this is exhaust -vs- cam swap is unknown to me.

Just been looking into this myself tonight, any cheapish upgrades for the pointy? or is it only race parts?

It is the full system that is making the most difference here...

Is that not a strange graph?
I would've thought peak power would be higher, and that it wouldn't keep building all the way to 10k, it'd tail off a couple of thousand rpm before that?

My planned derestriction presents to myself are full exhaust system and JHS cams

Them dyno runs don't mean a lot though. Only way to tell is to do a run standard, then with just the cam swap!
