Default 125cc Racing

Me & a friend are seriously considering it (hence my stingy budget for buying an SV).

We're looking at getting 125's and start racing, but are curious to know the seasonale budget private racers go by and how much it generally costs? If there is anyone on here which can give me some direction before we go and buy ourselves 2 RS125's..

We'd probs buy an old shagged out van then get some RAC cover for it to drive to tracks.

As we both have no race experience, sponsors would probably be out the window for our first season.

I think the cheapest racing you'll find anywhere is hillclimbs. I could be wrong...

Are we talking Honda RS 125 here or Aprilia? Either way there are cheaper ways to get into racing. If you want to do big proper tracks then things like a 5/6 year old 600 are about the best way to go with loads of competitive bikes on the market and a ready supply of cheap spares. At club level it will be all you need. If you fancy something different then Supermoto racing is even cheaper as crash bills are virtually non-existent and tyres last longer....ish

RS125, me and a mate are just gonna look about for some CAT C + D bikes, have a see, or what is going cheap on fleabay.

I'm waiting till I've bought something for the road first

Well Donnington is near by, Mallory Park is nearer so if we can arrange some days there to practice it'd be good as neither have us have raced before, and you have to start somewhere.

have you looked at Mini-twins, always seemed a cheap way to get started and if you already have an SV then your halfway there already...

Oops, Aprilia.

Mini-twins maybe, but I don't know whether it'd be best to start on a lower powered bike for racing then build up.

The curvys can be picked up for fairly cheap so might be tempting...

Have you done any track days yet ? With zero experience maybe you oughta try a track day or two, you might find people there that might help you get started a well.

Why an aprilia? Why a 125?

A steelie 600 would be a sight cheaper and more reliable.
