Basically going to try and fit my gsxr 600 k4 shock to my k5 sv650s. Im pretty sure I need a gsxr bolt/nut for the bottom part of the shock and maybe the top bit??, but am I needing the metal bracket thingy at the top of the shock.
![]() Ive had a look at the guide on svrider and had a look at some of the write ups on here about fitting shocks but nothings mentioned that it is needed or not as Ive seen pictures in a few shock thread with it on and without. So really dont know if it is needed or not.... Any help would be appreciated Cheeeeeeeeeeers Last edited by kenada; 21-08-09 at 08:42 PM. |

take the top silver part off the gsxr shocky and throw it in the bin.. reuse the top bolt from the sv shocky. and yes you will need the nut and bolt from a gsxr for the bottom. watch which way round you put the bolt threw at the bottom as the wrong way will foul the dog leg. if i remember the bolt goes from right to left as you sit on the bike with the nut on the left.

You will also have to make some modification to your battery box. I ended up moving the entire undertray back about an inch so I could keep the battery in it's original location.

That top bolt on the GSXR shock might work on the bottom when you put it into the SV.

What YC said but make sure you put it through the bottom link the opposite way to the stock bolt. The stock bolt threads into the stock shock absorber IIRC while the gsxr item you pinched from the top of the gsxr shock has a nut and bolt whihc can foul the linkage if you insert it the same way as the sv bolt.
You dont need the little ali bracket but you do need the bolt that holds it on ![]() |
