Default 15K Service

Hi All,

Could you tell me exactly what needs doing at the 15K service on a K3 SV650?
As far as I know the bike should get an oil/fileter change, spark plugs, valve clearance, and what else? Do the cam chain tensioners need attention?

I have heard that the cam chain tensioners are a hot topic when it comes to SVs and they need attention.

Cheers
Ed.

All will be said in your owners manual and you have covered the main, k3 tensioners are auto adjusting

All SV tensioners are self adjusting, just some fail. K3 ones are not usually problematic.

Cheers,

That s good to know! Btw I do not own an SV yet, I was asking to get an idea when going to see an SV that has more than 15K on it.

Thanks
Ed.

Just make sure it's had the valve clearances done, you can pretty much ignore the tensioner issues unless it's already failed.
