Default chain lubrication

I lubed my chain the other day using Chain Lube. The process was good. But when I took the bike for a ride the day after, I found the Chain Lube spilt all over the back wheel and the left swingarm. I am sure I didn't spray any on the wheel the day before.

The chain is brand new - 525MVXZ-120L Gold EK Chain. Did I spray too much Chain Lube on the chain? Or should I choose some other lubrication products which are thick and sticky?

Thanks.

Quite often people do apply to much spray lube, you only really need enough to keep the chain from drying out (internal grease within the "O" rings does the actual work of lubing the moving parts).

However if you find you have difficulty judging the amount, spray the chain, wait 5 minutes then wipe it down with a rag to remove the excess.

Of course that's if you don't get arond to fitting a scottoiler .........

Cheers Mark.
