Default best way to lift front wheel

as per title really, need to get the front off but have no front paddock stand, only an abba stand, where could i use a jack to lift it? The down pipe strong enough? Cheers, ash.

I'm pretty sure the down pipe is strong enough but i'd use the sump too - i've done this with a rear paddock stand, a car jack and a block of wood.

I jack from the sump with a piece of wood and rest a bag of sand on the pillion seat, whilst the bike sits on a rear paddock stand. Its not 100% safe but allowed me to change the wheel bearings etc.

Well i need a new trolley jack!

Got the front off the ground using a trolley jack and block of wood and took the wheel off.

Good, i thought, then i realised my jack was slowly lowering the bike all alone!

such hassle!

Cheers for the tips by the way guys!
