I'm trying to change the sprockets on my 99 sv650 and i cant get the front off.
I've bent up the washer, plank of wood through the rear wheel and using an impact wrench and it doesn't budge. Even tried a really long breaker bar and not a sausage of movement. Even tried penetrating oil all over it! So any suggestions?! ta J |

You've pretty much done everything I would have suggested. Try more penetrating oil overnight, then give the breaker bar another go. Alternatively, take it to a garage and ask them to shoot it off with their air guns.

Get someone to stand on the rear brake and hold the bike steady, then you can jump up and down on the breaker bar.
Are you sure you've got the lock washer off? Some people bend 2 sides of it.

cable tie the front brake lever or get someone to hold it too.
Breaker bar with scaffolding pipe fail all else. |

your really long breaker bar may not be long enough... i got mine off with a 4 foot tube around a socket i think.

You really need to use an airgun to remove the nut!
Remember that it isn't the tightness that makes it difficult to remove, it's the locking mechanism (ie. nylon insert) in the nut that does it. So you don't need to overdo it when you re-assemble it. I used a bit of loctite and a good reef with a breaker bar and it's been OK. You still need the tab washer though! |

i had the same problem, like said i got some one to hold the bike down whilst i attacked it with a breaker bar, it took a while
try beating it with a manual impact driver if you can, that combined with the breaker bar worked better for me than the windy wrench |
