Woman Racers, Grid Girls, and feminists!

I wonder why there are no mainstream female racers.. is there a rule that says they cant race with the fellas? also why are there little or no black or middle eastern racers? maybe im over analysing? There is a female racer in the bsb 600 class and i think its great
motorcycle racing seems very... closed i guess is the word?

another thing is the view of grid girls by typical feminists... the general view is that they are dressed slutty for "Male" interest and they are basicaly basing there careers on there looks and body.. the question this particular feminist asked.. was "what happens when her looks run out"..
i say shed be rich enought to not give a crap.. i bet grid girls get paid a bucket load by sponsors.. i honestly think that feminists have it wrong.. like maybe its the girls who are the smart ones.. although maybe not so apparently sometimes, if i got offered to skimp up and hold an umbrella for a stack of cash.. pfft.. who wouldnt!!



Mainstream Motorcycle racing is NOT male orientated these days.. its just that women dont do it.. and if they did i wouldnt get all arsey if she had a Grid Guy if that what the woman wanted..

As for gird girls (or guys for that matter), as with racing, surely it's their choice to do that if they wish and I think it should be up to the racer to decide if he/she wants a grid "person".

There are some quick female racers at club level,and one or two will probably get up to international level eventually,but there are hundreds of talented riders of both sexes who all want a handfull of jobs.Id guess the girl who just won the national 125 series would be a good prospect for stardom???

It seems the difference between those that are good club racers and those that are international stage racers is as much to do with pushy parenting as anything else. Any interview with F1 or MotoGP or WSB level riders and drivers seems to indicate they were doing go-karts / junior kick start etc shortly after nappies. The folks that are on the international stage now are, eg. 20 something, which probably means their parents were born in 1960 something, which means their parents had 1960s values and were typically (although not always, naturally) pushing their kids into gender stereotyped actitivies.

As for ethnic minorities, racing in any form has historically been, and to a large extent continues to be, the domain of the rich. Even now, this will tend to prevent those in poorer families from fulfilling their dreams or getting pushed into their parents dreams - ethnic minorities and poorer families have historically been (recent history that is) and to a hopefully lesser but still significant degree are now, often synomonous.

EDIT: On grid girls and eye candy in motorcycles - perhaps I'm just too liberal and wishy washy but personally I find it a tad cringe-worthy. Draping a silicone amplified woman over a car ceased to be effective advertising long ago, but for bikes it still works? The only consolation is that the only industry which makes more use of skimpy clad models in advertising than bikes is the arms trade - it's very wierd, but arms fairs are full of models riding rockets.

Melissa Paris was the first woman to qualify for a world super sport race at the weekend. Crashed though. She's a sponsor's dream if she can get half quick at that level. Easy on the eye too.

I guess its just the male dominated markets. Personally any kind of marketing rubbish like that puts me off - i'm more concerned that the product is actually any good. Draping a model over it - well i'll enjoy the show, then go buy something that doesn't require a scantily dressed woman to sell it.
