Talking The SV's out, VFR in.

After much thought and talking with my dad, we have decided to use my SV as a trade in for a BMW K1300GT which my dad has always wanted and for me to have his 2005 VFR 800, my restriction is up in october so i will have it by then...... I was very surprised with insurance quotes, Fully comp i have been getting quotes of £500, 2 year NCB.
I do love my SV to bits but to be able to have a 12000 mile mint condition VFR s to good to turn down. And its an awesome bike, i think most people would agree.
I have been on his VFR and do feel i'll be able to handle it fine, and have done alot of advanced riding with him and other members of ROSPA, ive currently got the silver award will retake it when i have the VFR.

What is your guys opinions?

Thanks

Ash

Same bike as mine, you won't regret it. You will have no problems handling it on the road, although she's a heavy beast so practice manoeuvring it around car parks and such at slow speed and pushing it. I find the performance very similar to the curvy SV but a lot less nimble.

Then it will be just like mine! Well no seat cowl, Staintunes (cos they sound better than laser ), MRA double bubble... I leave the pannier rack attached because it is a pain to get on and off - it don't look bad.

I did notice how heavy it is lol, thats what will take time to adjust as the sv's so light and flickable. When've been out on it i didnt push it for the extra valves to open up, obviously my dad doesnt have a bad word to say about it and is used to it but when the 2 extra valves open up is there a big shunt of power? I believe Honda have changed and fiddled with the VTEC to calm it down abit on the new ones? True?!

The 2005 model already has the VTEC re-map to smooth out the 'step' in power. TBH it is barely noticeable, especially on wide throttle openings, the only time I ever noticed it was pussyfooting around at 6800rpm - if you drive through the transition rpm on the throttle it won't bother you.
