Overtaking some car today, moved out, opened up the throttle.... about halfway through the overtake, JDBFJKSDBGJKDF GJKDF GJKF GJKF GFJG J FGGGGGG explosion, huge ass tank slapper.. I've never had to experience one before so I just sort of let off a little (didn't close throttle fully) in the hope to get some weight back over the front end. It worked, jajaja
Looked back and couldn't see anything untoward on the road apart from a long brown streak! Didn't crash thankfully, but have noticed the SV to be a bit wibble wobble ala R6 over especially bumpy surfaces...and coming out of roundabouts... Anyone know if it's just a suspension issue or should I invest in a steering damper etc? And I thought the SV was learner friendly! ![]() |

steering damper's mask problem's the fault will lie with your suspension i'm guessing or you cracked it open like a twonk.

Did the front wheel leave the ground at any point (even little) before the wobbling started?
Check your head bearings for play. It very unlikely to get a tankslapper in a standard sv with no problems. |

Oh I forgot to say it was across horizontal white lines, LMAO.
you know, the hatched area with the broken white lines you get around junctions? Anything to do with it? AFAIK my bearings are fine, check'd em last week. |

my bars got a bit of a tremor going over rough tarmac hard on the throttle, back when it was pretty new. Not a full on slapper by any means though.

My GSXR shook its head the other day when I was overtaking and clipped a cats eye and thats got a damper fitted as standard...
All the damper does is mask it, it doesnt stop it happening. Your better off spending your money on sorting out the front end on the SV which is well documented as being a weak point rather than spending your money on a damper IMHO. I never had my SV slap, it would shake its head on rough roads and I could provoke it on one bit of road everytime. If you havent just check your tyre pressures and also found if I was tense on the bike and gripping the bars to tight it would also make the bike shake its head as well, so if you are tense then try and relax on the bike a little more to.
