Default Battery Bulge

Battery on my 2000 curvy went flat overnight with a nice bulge in the side of it. Assuming that the battery is done for?

Also, only place to get one quickly is Halfords round here, so anyone know what the Bosch battery type is for the SV?

Thanks in advance.

Almost certainly reg/rec too. The battery has bulged probably due to overheating as it was overcharged. Check the charging with a voltmeter.

If you fit a new battery and the reg is gone, then it'll fubar the new one too.

Dont be so hasty to get a bosch battery; spend some more money and get a good quality yuasa battery (PM batteryman on here). A cheapo one will go wrong on you again relativly quickly. You will probably have to order a yuasa one, but its definatly worth it.

Also, check the reg/rec just like pete up there said, as these have a common histroy of failiure on curvy SV's (mine went after 21,000 miles)

Thanks for quick replies.

I checked the output of the charge the other day and it was close to 14V. Is that too high? Presumably reg/rec is straight forward fit with a Haynes manual nearby!

Cheers

Doesn't sound excessive.

Here's a thread that might be of some interest

I did a thread too on battery recommendations, and the general concensus on the reg./rec side of things is a second hand cbr one off fleabay for around £30.
