Couldn't be bothered getting the tank bag to put the sat nav in last night (plus it's not very easy to see in the tank bag). So I just stuck it on the tank. It grips really well. It was thoroughly tested last night and held on fine. Obviously it's no use in the rain because it's not waterproof but it's handy for the odd sunny day when I need it
![]() I just tied the cig lighter on to the brake fluid reservoir. But I'm thinking about fitting a waterproof one on the "dash" ![]() ![]() |

I would make sure it is tethered some other way otherwise you may see it bouncing into bits in your rearview mirror.
My car mount appears very secure on the window (which is presumably a better surface than your tank) then suddenly pops off after half an hour or so. Good luck but I reckon it will end in tears ![]() |

Yeh I think I will tie the mount to the yoke or something. But when I got home last night it was still solidly on there.

The garmin suction mount is good, mine will stick to the screen for a few months before it finally lets go, but once it lets go on the bike you'll have a broken sat nav at best, and a broken sat nav tangled in your bars at a worse. If you stick it to a cold surface and it heats up in the sun it can come loose more quickly why not just get a garmin bike mount like the one for the Zumo550?

these are good www.telferizer.com but madly expensive. You need a RAM mount too. Goes against your cost saving initiative too of course....

cable ties... a few tied together in a loop - first one around the frame just under the clocks and the last one a loop big enough to fit over the base of the suction mount... so you can easily remove satnav without cutting ties off every time - works a treat as i've had the suction give and satnav "safely" dangling off the side of tank till i can stop to put it all back together again
hope that makes sense... tried to take a photo but the battery just died on me... ![]() ps i have a tomtom1 that i stick over the rev counter ![]() Last edited by SuzukiNess; 05-07-09 at 05:54 PM. |
