Default Major Decision - set of cans or a mountain bike?

Morning gang,

just gaging opinion on this one as I'm torn. Been working away for about 5 years (feels like it, anyway) so I've got a bit of money spare for the summer. I can either:

a) get a set of cans for the thou (around £350 from beowulf). It'll sound nice as hell, look better and generally put a smile on my face...

b) get a mountain bike (similar price around £350 inc helmet and one or two other accessories). There's dalby forrest up the road from us with some mega trails, and I reckon it'll be a fun way to get fit. I'll look better but it will generally make me very sweaty and have a face like this

So, proudness of the loudness or witness the fitness?

End cans. They are a safety aid.

You know what I'm gonna say, but as you are asking a forum mostly full of bikers, you know what their answer will be.

Oh by the way guys, I am a right chunky monkey forgot to mention this in OP but it's quite important in the decision making process...

Gowan plowsie, get a vote in there quicktime!

Just so torn because a mountain bike has so much form and function, where as the cans are pure form (with about 5% 'safety' function). I know the cans are alot of money and they're worth it, but you can't put a price on health.

Gym's do a good job of doing that. Cant you get both? If its a case of which one first then I stand by my choice. If its a deffinate either/or then im not sure. Do what you think is right.

Get the cans, go for a short run twice a week and change diet for a lil bit.

lost just shy of a stone in the last 5 weeks, then last week it all went horribly wrong when I met up with Soulkiss and bluethunder for a few beers. Lets just say I was fairly pished and ended up with a kebab

no problem with the gym apart from its so bloody boring. I can lay down around 15-18km in roughly 45-60 mins but the idea of trail riding seems so much more appealing than staring at a screen watching the "calories burned" creep towards 550/600...

As for the cans, I honestly think 300 quid is more than reasonable to stop people telling me "You wanna get a set of cans on that, it'll sound brillaint" to which my reply has now become "Oh really?"... Can't afford both unfortunately

Forget about cardio, lift weights (squat more), get your diet sorted (more protein and fat, less carbs unless from veggies) and buy some sweet end cans.

Loud cans are as much a safety aid as jaffa cakes are a contraceptive.
