I was going to work the other day, fired the bike up , set off got about 10 yards went to change gear and the bike died and stalled, it wouldnt restart . Charged the battery overnight still no good, have a spark on the rear cylinder . Could it be battery its only 3 months old? Or maybe starter motor?, Have my brother coming round at the weekend to give some assistance but any ideass would be useful.
Thanks Last edited by Sid Squid; 14-07-09 at 06:47 PM. |

Does the engine turn over when you hit the button?

We tested the battery all ok , spark ok , but there doesnt seem enough oomph to get it to start, I have calleded the dealers and am awaiting pick up.

you basically need three things, fuel, compression and spark.
If you are getting a healthy spark on both cylinders and the bike was running reasonably well beforehand then its more than likely fuel supply. Get a set of jump leads connected up between your bike and a car battery with the car engine turned off. Give it a go trying to start, if the bike is spinning up nice and quick take a look at each spark plug. If you are getting a good strong spark on each its more than likely fuel. Give it a try starting on part throttle. Also get the bike into 'dealer mode' and see if it displays any error codes for you, might have a faulty sensor or fuel injection system. the bike is now fixed, it had to go to the dealers they tracked it down to a trapped fuel pipe , that was something we never thought of. Cost £97.50 to repair .
