Default Fife advise

All right Fifer's need some tips on avoiding the main Street in Cupar at peak times 4pmish, as it takes me 20mins or so every night, bike or car.

Just need some local knowledge to avoid the area, checked out Gmaps but can't really see anything, looked at B roads but takes to long, better sitting in the traffic.

Traveling to Glasgow from St Andrews.

Ta in advance.

p.s. any ideas when St Andrews will get a train service?

Filter?

Also, pop into Cupar Suzuki - I'm sure their guys know the roads around there pretty well

My suggestion (by Googlemaps, not experience - I only ever went to St Andrews via Dundee) would be to try the B939 to Chance Inn/Craigrothie, then A916, cut across country to the A914 and up to the A91 via Springfield.

But that could be a nightmare - or it could be great.

Upshot is if it still takes the same amount of time, you wont be stitting in traffic...

St Andrews will never get a train station as the nearest is Leuchars and St A's has the main bus station.

As for Cupar main street I travel through there regularly and other than adding longer time to your route going the B roads you are best to just sit in the traffic. Have you tried going past Cupar railway station instead of the main street?

If you are on your bike it is easy to filter.

Is this for when you are finishing work? Why not leave 10 mins early if possible?

Thats a GREAT point - negotiate with the boss about starting/finishing 30 mins/hour earlier/later and avoid the traffic

Thanks for the advice so far,

When I'm on the bikeI do filter passed the traffic at the first set of lights, but when they do turn you still have to negociate the main street which is usually nose to tail.

I have left at various times of the day to varying degree of sucess (or lack of it)

I have a sceanic route planned for one day, to keeep the flow going, but have to get out of the mentality of must get home from work as soon as possible.

Is this any good, or any problems to look out for?

The first stretch is a very straight road and is quite quick. It also avoids the bottleneck at the Guardbridge roundabout. I reckon that overall it should be quicker
