One of the guys I know passed his test on january this year and bought his first bike, a brand new VFR 800.
The VFR was a great bike for him to learn on, hes 6 foot 4 so would be a little cramped on most sports bikes. After going out with him once or twice I had some concerns... He was riding way too fast, over taking on double white lines and was just risking far too much in order to keep up with the faster boys. We all told him to get some extra training in order to get the most from his bike and to polish off some of his skills...a polite way of telling him hes gonna die on a bike. Well, there really is no telling some people. He went and booked a california superbike school day and then went and bought a new bike.... His arguement was that his bike couldnt keep up with other bikes..sv650, ducati 748, gsxr 600 etc. His new bike was taken to silverstone this week (monday) and pictures are attached... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So how many of you would have leathered him with your lid for taking you and your R1 out then? Hes fine and has said that it will slow him down a bit but still an expensive lesson to learn. |

I'm seriously suprised that he didn't get battered. I realised early on in my riding career that the SV was plenty fast enough, but my riding skills/experience were less adequate.

how does it work if you "take someone out" on track?
ie its not your fault, but your bike is toast? and you have no trackday insurance |

Normally its a gentlemans agreemant, if you ride like a **** and take someone off you would at least help contribute to some of the repair costs unless you are a complete arrogant twunt.
How the hell do you take someone off at the CSB anyway, they are fairly sedate days anyway.

Just goes to show that money cant buy talent though.

He got the taste for trackdays and then bought this. 150 into a right bend on the right hand side of the track... obviously learnt a lot as CSB ![]() |
