Indicators on SV - K5

Folks

I am very new to the SV world (well six months or so) and even more so to what appears to be an extremely useful Forum supporting the same. I have tried not to waste anyone's time and have done a search on the old threads for details of indicators but not knowing much about my spec of bike not sure whether the rear indicators I have are oiginal or aftermarket. Bearing in mind they are so useless and bearly visible I assume they must be aftermarket. I have put up with them so far but want to sort before anything nasty happens !! I hope this post comes with the image of the rear of my bike but my skills on this are limited. Can anyone let me know what I need to do to fit some sensible lights and best way to fill old holes? Has anyone tried this as opposed to the other way around

Those indicators are part of an aftermarket undertray. You would need to get a standard undertray and either got a tail tidy of go back to standard snow shovel set up

Many thanks for confirming - as I sort of expected, shame it operates so poorly as it looks ok but not worth the risk of someone ending up in the side of me.

Think I need so sort out a standard undertray and then get a tail tidy with smaller LED units which I have seen referred to on the site. Can you (or others) suggest best places to pick up tray and neessary bracket/lights? Assume there isnt much I can otherwise to improve the current situation. (NB bike isnt usually in such a state - damp trip back from Wales yesterday !)

I'm not sure how far down your undertray goes. Has it replaced the standard one or is it just bolted over the top of it? You might just need a tail tidy like a Hamicad or similar. Have a look on ebay for lights.

That's an Ermax undertray you have there (with built in Ford indies). I had this on my K3. IMO, the indicators work very well, and looking at your picture, the indicators are well visible. The person that installed may have left the standard undertray on and bolted the Ermax over the top of it, however, where the indicators are situated, the OEM undertray needs cutting to make room for them. Lift the rear seat and have a look - I suspect it has definitely been cut, or the OEM undertray won't be there at all.
