Unhappy Meets!

I know it's difficult getting everyone to turn out for regular meets and I also realise that it takes some effort to find somewhere that's local enough for everyone.

However, I wanted to get over to the Farmers last night, but once I'd ridden home from Manchester it was around 6pm, then we had to feed the kids etc and didn't get out of the house until just after 7pm. The Farmers is a good hour away from me, so at that time of night, it probably wasn't going to be worth making the journey (lovely people that you all are!).

In the end, we went to the Scotch Piper, which was rammed with bikes and even had a few loons trying to pretend they were at the Ace Cafe. From there we went on through Southport, again, a good turn out of bikes, then up Parbold hill for a quick shandy in what use to be the Wiggin Tree but is now some fancy steak house .

Anyway, what I'm trying to say in a very long winded way is, what are the chances of people wanting to get to meets that are a bit more Merseyside/Lancashire way as opposed to Wirral/Cheshire way?

I appreciate that it's a long ride for those from Wales etc, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

Thoughts?

ay up mate.... Point well presented and well taken.

However when we were deciding on a location of these meets it was chosen openly that it would be the Farmers arms. I think this was mainly because when you look at the BP area on the whole(which is a big area) its about central. As far as i know thay have been better attended so far this year than last.... I may be corrected on that if i am wrong.
Its a shame that we cant accomadate everyone. but i guess thats why we often have the weekend jobbies too.

In fairness, the roads that lead you to the farmers are fairly fast and its surprising haw quickly you can get down there. If you get chance pust to get there... you may find that its not as harsh as you first thought and the banter is usually worth it,(i couldnt seem to keep my mouth shut last night..sorry guys) and some decent scran to boot!!

Thanks for the response Dave. I appreciate that the Farmers was the general concensus and I agree with it being convenient for most. It's just a pain in the rear for me and although I'd probably do it in a lot less than an hour normally, I'd have Nobbylass on the back so I'd have to take it easy!

It's a never ending problem. Last year we moved the meets around so that it was less far for folks one week in three, but I think folks lost track of where the meet was and they were poorly attended. This year we fixed it at the Farmers Arms (there is a thread about that somewhere in here) as it is pretty central except for those from right over in north west Wales. The Farmers is 40 miles from Ruthin, 40 miles from Crosby, 40 miles from Shrewsbury, 35 miles from Manchester, 35 miles from Stoke etc. Moving the meet to be more Merseyside/Lancashire will unfairly penalise those from Wales and the south of the Border Patrol area.

Yep I agree with all of that, I guess I was posting because I was so pee'd off not being able to get over there for a decent time last night.

Next Wednesday I'm in London so won't be back until late, however I'll try and finish early the following week to get out to the Farmers at a decent time!

That would be me.

TBH, part of the reason I haven't made it to the Farmers yet is because of the distance. But the majority of the reason is my damn work shifts. It was work that got in the way last year, and it's not about to get any better either.

Wednesdays is also when the bike meet is on Anglesey, just in case a few are interested when the meets at the Farmers aren't on.

But again, that would be a royal trek for some, and the meet on Anglesey doesn't even really kick off until 9pm!

I have to say that the Border Patrol Area does seem to stretch over a wide expanse, & as Dave says, the meets cant accommodate everybody, but it does seem to be a fairly central place at The Farmers.
I work in Shropshire and live in Cheshire, so it is a bit of a rush for me to finish work, get home, have a bath & get to the pub, but I do enjoy the craic when I get there (even if Dave does go on a bit ).
Good company, good food, good ride, couldn't ask for more really

I havent been able to make any of the meets at the farmers arms yet either (this is due to not getting home and finishing tea until 7pm). I might be able to get there by 7:30pm but what time do you guys and gals normally stay till?
