Thumbs down Unmarked Police motorcycles

What is your view on this?

Eating dinner, watching my ITV local news (Who love exaggerating everything) when i heard "Police caught footage of a dangerous motorcyclist" the exaggerations include "blind bends" "Narrow country lanes" (which none of these actually applied)

Ok the footage showed the biker in excess of 95mph on single carriage way roads (unsure of posted limit) and he then got pulled at a roundabout by 2 marked bikes, but my point is why did he do this? is it because of the unmarked copper behind him? I know there are some unmarked bikes in my local area (Fireblade and a GSXR thou to be percise) but from what i have heard they pratically bully other bikers into going stupid and then nick them.

What are your views on this? Any one had first hand experience?

If i can i will try and find the video.

ive a friend that rides for east yorks police and rides an unmarked black busa'...have heard this plenty of times that riders who are unaware its a cop bike, race off thinking the busa etc wants to race!!....end of day its down to the rider what he does, cant do the time dont do the crime'..its all in your right hand, hence why after 26 yrs of riding im quite happy to observe and stick to speed limits now''

Entrapment springs to mind, especially as some riders have claimed that the Police bikes have filled their mirrors and goaded them into going faster. Sadly for most of us, when we see a bike closing quickly, we tend to take up the baton and have a play.

I don't think it's entrapment because they're not actively inducing you to break the law: you're making the decision to ride fast without direct coercion. It's only entrapment if it's something along the lines of "here's the gun, go rob that store and we'll give you £100".

More to the point, shouldn't people have the self-control to let a pushy rider past instead of trying to beat them at their own game?

i tend to let faster bikers pass as I'm not that good at riding fast... I enjoy bumming along enjoying the roads until there's no one infront or behind me

Agreed, people should have the self control. But some of us never seem to grow up

I'm very conscious of bikes that appear on my back end I tend to let them by before deciding to have a play or not, police issue gear is fairly noticable, only the bikes are unmarked.

If I spot a bike in my mirrors, I slow down and let them by, for two reasons: either they're going faster than me so they'll get past anyway; or they're a copper.. Once they're past and I can see what/who they are, I'll carry on as normal. Not that I'm ever going particularly fast anyway..
