Where the hell do all these straps go?
Does the tank come off?! ![]() From what it looks like, it seems that one strap at the front may feed to the buckle at the seat end and the strap at the seat end feeds to the buckle at the front, with clips clipping around the edge of the fuel tank. Does this sound correct? Want to make sure i've got it right before I start pulling my bike to peices trying to fit it! I thought you didn't have to remove the tank to fit these things... |

You do need to lift the tank by undoing the 2 bolts near the headstock, then use the straps near seat to strap it to the frame and the headstock ones strap somewhere near the front. Can't remember exactly where I strapped mine, but the cover is such a snug fit it shouldn't move anywhere.

I didn't lift my tank.
The front straps go around the headstock. The rear straps around the tank hinge. The little clips sit under the lip of the tank. Job done. |

Ty FG1, I'll have a play tomorrow and hopefully it'll be sorted. Your (orrible) red tank cover is now a brilliant shiny silver
![]() There seems like there will be shedloads of spare strap hanging down if I use this method, shall I just chop em off? ![]() Last edited by cF^; 04-08-09 at 08:44 PM. |

There shouldn't be too much spare strapping. The small ones on the side of the tank will slide back between tank and frame.

one strap for under the headstock and one strap for under the rear subframe, then the two rubber clips clip on to the bottom of the petrol tank. wait to do it when the sun is out, leave the cover laying in the sun so it heats up and it will be a little more pliable
