Default Police Radar Gun.

I was riding a long and i saw two cop in hi-vis vest with a rader gun, i slow down straight away but i know these gun can get you from a distance away, am i right in thinking that they pull you over straight away if your speeding because they can't record on them, also can they prove it is you becuase they don't see you reg?

Anyway i pulled down some side road because normaly they park by the roundabout at the end of the road and was not pulled so will i be fine or not.

Sadly they can, if there were 2 of them, just say they both saw the figure and both verify the plate...ticket in the post.
Hope not tho.

A friend of mine got a ticket in the post exactly this way - albeit in a car. I think they have 14 days to issue it? so if you have nothing before then you should be safe.

Good luck.

Cops don't use "Radar" guns so much nowadays, they all tend to be laser now. This might sound like a minor point but the lasers are so precise it's actually quite hard to get a bike at range with them, especially if they are hand held. If the guy with the laser has it tripod mounted then in theory he can get you before you're even close enough to realise he's a copper, but if it's in his hand you've got to be within 150m for him to stand a chance. So first question is....was it in his hand?

Secondly are you sure it was a laser/radar. It wouldn't be the first time two coppers standing at the side of the road having a chat see a biker approaching and one of them points his radio at them......especially if they think you're going a bit quick. (not that I've ever done that myself ho hum)

Thirdly, as has been said, yes they can do you through the post but certainly in my circles that's considered bad sport. They've got 14 days to send an NIP to the registered keeper. How fast do you think you might have been going, would it be worth their while? Good luck.

Ask a silly question, but did they see your reg? Was the side road before or after the copper with the gun?
