Thumbs down Go easy on us newbies on the road.

Was out on my second day of riding after passing my test. Decided to give traffic enough time to clear off before going out. Had a lovely ride out and about until i was almost home. A tight and tricky left turn from a major into a minor road. Took a long look behind me and saw come cars coming up behind me in the distance (i still had loads of room to slow down). As I make the turn from behind me comes a bike and an audi A3 who appeared to be having a race around the corner and around me. Scared the **** out of me, forced me slightly wide on the turn but still well inside my lane. Bike went round OUTSIDE of me in the in the corner and pulled a willie as he raced past followed shortly by the Audi.

My opinion is that these 2 racing was a bad idea and surely the fact that I had a high vis vest on and was taking the corner slowly would have given atleast the biker the sense to realise I was new to this??? Am I wrong??

Nah, you get plenty captain sensible types with the hi-vi of invulnerability on plodding around very slowly.

Racing past people, yeah a bit inconsiderate. But him going around the outside of you in a corner is not too bad.

Yes, i know peeps who have riden for a few years, wear a hi vis and corner badly, lol.
I know how you feel tho mate, we all been there. Keep checking your mirrors is the secret..that way nutters like these wont be such a shock to you.

Your road positioning too makes a huge difference, ride with a defensive position and make you bike 8 feet wode and they wont do that to you... not round corners anyway.

Was the wheelie any good tho?

I was in front of SVStorm at the time, this was going to be my opening gambit of a post but figured that my first post shouldn't involve quite as much swearing as I was thinking. Seriously - I have never seen riding like that, ever!!!

Some people are just tw*ts no matter what you do or are doing they'll behave in an inconsiderate manner, whether on a bike or not, a moron is always a moron.

Just remember to always expect the unexpected, you made it round the corner and have come away unscathed, sounds like you kept calm and didnt loose your rag over it, which is the correct thing to do.

Ignore them and let them get on with it and keep safely out of harms way with people like that IMHO.

Used to be this guy on a 998 on my morning commute into work. He'd wheelie off every set of lights and do a rolling stoppie to sop for the next set
He was nuts but also very skillfull. I'd keep up with him for most of the way and give him the thumbs up now and again. Sometimes nutters make the journet a bit more of a laugh.

Sometimes.

Trust me, this was a whole new level of ****ism!!! This was not a case of a newbie getting bullied, this was sheer, utter stupidity from someone on a death wish: Turning into a farming road as sun is going down, flat out, during harvest time.
