As I have been asked by a few folk on here I thought I would let you all know of the date this year.

Saturday 12th september 2009.

And before I am innundated with requests, I am sorry but I cannot get freebie/discounted tickets.

Lots of traffic

Lots of planes and helicopters and other flying things

Flying displays

Static displays

Funfair

Burger vans

Ice cream vans

etc etc etc

then when you leave lots and lots of traffic

other than that it is normally a good day out

I've put this on the calendar already - went to Perth air show with the small person last weekend - she loved it.

Looking forward to seeing the Red Arrows again.

Possible bike trip...although unlikely if small person is attending.

unfortunately I will be on duty for this as we are not allowed to spend the day with our families!!! grrrrrr

I would highly recommend that if anyone is going then they should consider going by bike rather than car as the traffic does build up and you can queue for hours to get away. At least with a bike you can filter IMO. There is a hard standing for bikes to park on - at least there was last year.

Bring your own sandwiches as well as it is very expensive.

We got stuck in the car park for 4 hours one year, back in teh day, the car park (fields) and access roads (also fields) all turned to sludge from the rain and eventually we got towed out one at a time by a load of big camo-painted truck things that were part of the airshow. It was great, well, it's amazing what you consider exciting when you're 9. Then the car caught fire from all the grass wrapped around the underside, that was great too.

So there you have it, Leuchars Air Show = GREAT.
