Having some problems..
Its a acer extensa 5630EZ. Brand new, only a month old.. The block thingy inbetween the laptop and the mains gets very hot, like too hot to touch.. Hopefully not a short, don't really have any tools here to check.. Just wondering if anyone has experience of these things, and/or any solutions? Cheers, Sally. ![]() |

Common for them to go, although if it's getting hot suggests some powers going through. Just double check when you plug the cable into the laptop none of the little lights or LEDs are coming on or changing. If they definitely aren't then get onto Acer for a warrantly replacement. Hope acer have smartened up their act for your sake!

To be fair, i just put the really hot part in the fridge for 5 minutes, took it out, and hey presto, it now works?
![]() It wouldn't just cut out because it was too hot would it? :S It gets use for around 5-6 hours most nights... David. |

Btw you know you're not supposed to keep chargers in the laptop all the time if the battery's in right?

It might have a thermal protection device built into it...
My laptop PSU will do the same if it over heats, try to leave it on a hard surface such as the floor or table, rather than leaving the PSU / Transformer sitting on your sofa...

Cheers.
I do 'charge' it without the battery in, battery is charged up, and removed. ![]() |
