Angry Apparently, saving the world is easy!

Ok, the fiance of a family member has just told me that I am a bad person because I eat meat and that if all the meat eaters in the world would just listen to Sir Paul McCartney, we'd all be vegetarians and solve all the worlds problems:-

http://www.peta.org/feat/paulmveg/

Now, I can almost not comment on this as I am frankly dumbfounded that someone of more mature years can be so naive!!! The part about compassion for animals is spot on. We absolutely should have animal welfare as a priority, but after that it just gets silly.

I can just see it now. Sir Paul in Africa somewhere telling a farmer that if he eats his vegetables and grain instead of feeding it to his goats, he'll have more food and help to save the planet. Forget that they need the milk from the goat, they can breed the goats and that they are the most vaulable belonging of the farm etc. Maybe he could go to remote tribes and tell them that the hunting techniques they've mastered over centuries are pointless, they could just eat the leaves and berries and would never have a problem with nutrition.

It's all very well and good to be a vegetarian where you can access good quality nutrition, but not everyone can.

Sorry for the rant. I am not against vegetarianism at all....but I am against this kind of nonsense. If you want to save the planet, wear a jumper instead of turning the heating up, turn off the lights/appliances you're not using, recycle and buy a bicycle!

Had to get this off my chest here as I don't want to be drawn into it with the family member. He's blind to reality and wants to start a fight, but that's not fair to the rest of the family, so I'm not bothering.

As my mate at uni used to say - if God didn't want me to eat cows he wouldn't have made them taste of beef!

Oh I know.....they are so crazy. What annoys me is that a young person can get completely drawn in and will refuse to the point of being rude to another family member to actually see the bigger picture. He's got the whole, "you eat meat so cannot have any valid point to make" attitude.

Sounds like a fad, PETA are so single minded in their stupidity that it;s an easy way to be absolutely certain the people you associate yourself with agree with you, meaning you get the sense of being socially accepted, even if what you're doing is mind blowingly dumb...

Anyway, I feel a bit of photoshopping coming on with this photo:

Fair one, I've got the whole "if you're anything to do with PETA then you cannot have any valid point to make" attitude!

Show him some nice kangaroo hide and leather bike gloves.
Maybe like this?

PM really makes me laugh, on tour the venues would have to sign waivers for him, no meat was allowed into the building during the time his team entered, and no leather.

How amusing considering that most safety boots are made of leather, along with a lot of other equipment in the building; and the team had pepperoni on pizza most nights when they were working 24 hours to get his tour set.

I am a firm believer that you are allowed your own religion and believe but, it is not acceptable to push it onto others in such a way.
