Default What a tw*t-nav

Remember the guy that nearly drove off a cliff following the sat-nav?

"Robert Jones, 43, was driving his £30,000 BMW 5 Series though the village of Gauxholme back in March, when his TomTom ordered him up a narrow footpath. He only realised he'd taken a seriously wrong turn when he hit a fence on the edge of a precipice."

Well here's what ultimately happened to him...

I was chatting to a lorry dring a couple of months ago, he uses maps because his satnav was awful. He said a few times the 'nav wanted him to go down rivers and up weirs to get to places.

Also there was a woman who followed the satnavs directions along a railway line one time.

Oh those crafty little sat-navs

fantastic picture of the event. Those who are local might recognise it - i've walked my dog down that path.

The only sensible comment on the Sun is
Quote:
Since when has the law been enforced for driving on private land I am sure if he appeals against this conviction he will be cleared. This is the first time I have heard of points on a license on a farmers land, I know what this lad has done is silly for doing what the sat-nav says but where is the point of law.
Do you reckon it's private land or a highway?

Driving is driving regardless of where it takes place...

The issue with provate land is to do with the cops only officially being there is invited (I think...)

Oh and that article in the Sun also adds what was omitted in The Register, that the AA billed him £1000 to tow him out

On a quite a few occasions a year there is some poor bugger who lives in a narrow steep street, that has their house squashed by lorries being navigated off the M62 right to said poor buggers doorstep. The lorry gets wedged and can't move until some sort of recovery vehicle gets them out, and they all stand there hoping the house doesn't come with it

Tiz true, in Ripponden it is.
