Hmmm i heard about this subject on radio 1 today. Intrested to know more as this is my ideal job, and according to it i can now drive an LGV upto 7.5 tons, what size is that normally?
I wonder also down the line in 2-3 months if anyone under 21 or my age will have a job. Either way if it's working by new year and people my age are getting jobs i'll be back in the UK! That means more riding with you lovely people. Anyway opinions, stats, findings on this anyone? What are the exact regulations, will i be able to realisticly get a job? Cheers Matt. |

![]() I love driving anything, and up until learning i couldn't drive HGV's till 21 i was going to take my lisences over this winter. I find driving about technique and judgemeant and love using those to get me through a situation.... thinking ahead etc... but i am an extremly confident driver and have complete confidence whenever i'm driving. I get stuck behind so many who aren't. What would your major concerns be? |

Yeh well it's official i checked the uk govermeant sites. But i just wondered what people thought and if companies would really employ an 18-19-20 year old to work for them as a driver? Would be intrested to know as it is something i really would like to do.

hi matt, i got a c+e liscence, used to agency work at weekends whilst in t army, and did agency full time for a couple of years when i left, you should be able to get work with an agency, if not it's a case of applying to loads of firms. 7.5 tonne is easy enough to drive just as easy as a car, it's the bendy ones that are a bit harder.

yep, easy peasy.
edit, never used a digital one, i presume they put the info, ie speed time etc on to some sort of disc or card, as opposed to a paper card that you fill your details in on, name start time odometer reading finish mileage etc you used to have to put a fresh one in for every 24hr period or journey, some vehicles/jobs can be exempt from the tacho rules, milk pickup was one exempt, phone an agency see what they say, they will be able to give you a better idea as it was a few years ago last time i drove big trucks.
