Hiya folks, this won't apply to all, just the few that were planning on staying and mine and Stretchies house this weekend.
In light of the fact that the funeral for Hovis is likely to be towards the end of this week or early next week, I have decided to cancel plans to have anyone over for the weekend. I originally planned it in the belief that the funeral would have been past us and it would have been an opportunity to get together, remember him, watch the Cardiff Half Marathon and generally have a nice weekend. I now feel that it would just be too much for us to have a house full when we are not going to be in the mood for it and I want to be selfish and look after those close without having to worry about anything or anyone else. I hope you understand and at any other time, I would have gone ahead, but given that we still have the funeral to get through, I feel that it is the right thing to do for us. Keep an eye on the funeral thread for details if you wish to attend that and PM me if you need to. Sorry guys, just won't be in the right frame of mind or mood for it this weekend. Cheryl xxx |

Thanks for the call hon, as you know, I completely understand.
Since our chat I have also looked at the funeral in a completely different way. I have now decided not to come to it, not because I don't care about Hovis, but simply because I don't feel worthy enough. Hovis and I met at the AR09 and we chatted a lot online, on facebook and in pm and I think that if this hadnt happened we would have become really good friends. However, I feel that if I went to his funeral with his closest friends and family, I would feel like a complete hypocrit. I will be happy to attend any rideout in memory of Hovis but I respect that something as private and sensitive as a funeral should be left to his closest and dearest friends and family. I would also like to stress that these are my PERSONAL feelings about this occasion and that I do not intend to extend this to anyone else but myself. That works out well GG, as I have to do a lot of gardening, so you have made my decision for me. It'll be therapeutic for me to get this done and not think of socialising. I can be alone with my thoughts. Cheers for letting us all know in plenty of time, we will be invading you soon though!

Good on ya GG. You need to make sure you are together with your loved ones and your thoughts to be able to deal with the funeral. If you are too busy playing hostess you may not embrace the funeral as much as you need to, to be able to move on and make your peace.
The funeral will be exhausting enough. We can wait till we have full energy levels to bombard you. Muchos Love! |
