Default going through clutch cables

I seem to be having problems going through clutch cables every 20 - 25 k on my sv

I do commute every day and it is a lot of stop / start town traffic however seems to wear too quickly to me

Clutch is adjusted correctly before cable is adjusted ,issue is I run out of cable adjustment both top / bottom , therefore stuffed

clutch cable is not damaged and is kept well lubed and looks in great condition apart from stretching

Another thing which does not help is that I have to have at least 4 threads depth of cable adjuster screwed into lever perch to get to lock as thread in perch is worn .

Cheers Steve

Replace any other worn parts. Check the worm drive mechanism dosnt have any worn pivots. Are you useing good quality cables, or cheapy ones?

How many miles do you have on your SV? And when last did you change the clutch release carp/worm mechanism?

Cheers

(I replaced my mechanism 1500 miles ago - it was the original part, had done about 38,500 miles. The new part provided much better clutch action - the cable itself had been replaced 1500 miles prior to the worm / crap thingy mechanism being replaced)

ASH, you got good mileage out of the worm/carp thingy(wonder why Suzuki chose that shoite method). The apparently stretched cable is due to the worn clutch release worm carp.

Much better? Ah, you holding back lol.... It's like "wow, this feels real good but I know it won't last ....so I'm going to enjoy the nice smooth feeling whilst it's good

Cheers

Steve,

A new clutch release mechanism I reckon is in order. I don't think it'd be worth the time/effort fraffing about with cleaning/regreasing the current one.

Cheers
