Default Shell V Power

Is it worth spending the exra 8 pence a litre on our already expensive petrol and getting Shell V Power or just stick to regular 95 Ron petrol ?
Is there going to be a difference that anybody can notice, or is it just a way of sqeezing more money out of us ?

I always buy shell V power for my 1999 curvy SV now. I have found that cold starting is easier (the bike dosn't need to be on choke for as long and it settles to a stable idle quickly) and the transition from a completly closed throttle to a small opening (such as in traffic or mid corner) is smoother than with 95 RON. On cold days when there is alot of moisture in the air i.e. carb icing is highly possible, I have found V-power to prevent carb icing from occuring.

I had a fuel injected bandit as a hire bike for a bit, and tested both normal 95 RON shell petrol and (then 97 RON) v-power in it. Made no differance, the fueling was still crap

test it for yourself and see if you can notice any differance between the fuels. You probably wont notice a massive performance increase (I havnt) but you might notice the things I have

The fact that it's higher RON will make zero difference in the SV

I beleive this to be true; I think they add in some other additives though, evident by my carb-icing an cold-starting observations

True, but what's a carb???

By the looks of his avatar he has a K5 or newer bike...

You also *may* find if you live the the boondocks the V-Power has sat for ages waiting for someone to buy it

If 95 is giving you problems try it, but I wouldn't spend extra if not

I agree with you again here, I only tried it because using the Silkolene PRO FST additive to 95 RON was working out expensive.

I dont think there would be much differance on the FI bikes (if any) from what I found out with the bandit. Maybe on bikes with more sophisticated fuel injection systems would benefit

as for the carb jibe...how long have carbs been around, and how long has FI been around...so whats better cos its more developed
