Hi there,
I'm new to the forum and haven't yet got an SV650 but am looking around for one. Before I go to any viewings, I wanna know beforehand where the VIN and Engine Number stamp is on the bike, so I don't look like a newbie to the seller. The less sure I look as a buyer, the more likely the seller is to pull the wool over my eyes Does anyone have any idea/pictures of where they are located? Also are there any common issues I should be looking for on the pointy versions past 2003? Thanks in advance. |

Best bet is to find a local .org-er to take a look with you.

Hello and welcome to the org.
Chassis plate is on a black tag stuck on the left hand side of the frame, and stamped in the frame around the headstock. Engine number is stamped on a raised surface under the clutch cover and front sprocket cover, same side of the bike as vin plate.

What about bikes being sold by .org-ers, trustworthy enough?

engine number is on the bottom of the engine right hand side as you look at it from the front i think?? and frame number is stamped on headstock and there is a info plate on the left hand side of the frame again as you look at it. make sure you listen to a cold start and listen for ticking this could be cam chain tensioner. if you want any more info let me know.
P.S welcome to the forum. |

Shouldn't be a problem if they are a regular user of the forum, I'd be more cautious if their post count was low, indicating they had only used the site to advertise their bike.
