Default First ride on the road in a few months..

After commuting into Birmingham daily for the last few weeks (and sitting in traffic for an hour to get back out of Brum in the evening) I decided to dig out the bike and brave the cold.

I chucked some panniers on the bike for my laptop and work rubbish, layered up under my leathers (I've got textiles but I prefer leather if I can get away with it) and headed into work.

The run in is boring as you can expect being a motorway run but the I do love filtering

The best bit came as I left the motorway...

Anyone here been through the underpasses/tunnels on the A38 into birmingham on full chat??

Even over the sound of an MP3 player (although I did turn it down a bit ) 12000 revs on an IL4 sounds fantastic

Happy days (although the sleet on the way home was a bit of a downer!)

I'll throw the camera on next time and post up the soundtrack!

Seriously you need to go to Les pelerins in France and ride through to Entreves in Italy, now that's a tunnel, they had a big fire there so things might have changed, but wasn't really monitored and about 7 miles long.

Cheers Mark.

You wait 'til you have children, babies can make a very similar noise at 3am and suddenly it looses it's appeal

You'll be able to do backfires on that, robh - THAT'll frighten the pigeons & Ralphs littlun can't do them quite so loud!
For the ultimate in noisy tunnels, hows about Florian Camathias going through the Mersey Tunnel on the way to the TT when his transporter broke down? Heaven.

been in there in the van when a bike has gone through but its never been loud.
these days the underpass near M6 J10, where i work now i go though and the guys walking to work stand around giving me abuse about how loud i am through there, i only get 9,000 rpm on the sv, baffles out commuting at night

Entering the Dartmouth Tunnel on the 990 with baffleless Akrapovics is a noise to behold, she's a bit... lively... on the overun as anyone who's followed me will attest to
