Default SV650 Injection Model - frame swap?

Are the frames the same K3 through to K7?

Ignoring obvious Colour difference, I have a K3 with Broken Weld, and have located a K7 Is it a direct swap!

you are looking at swaping the frame?!?! you do realise that means your swapping frame numbers and that means you have to notify dvla, as they will find out next mot unless you talking a track bike.

whats wrong with the rest of the bike the k7 frame is from?
and whats wrong with re-welding the frame?

Telling DVLA is a piece of pee, in fact you could actually notify DVLA of an engine change to the K7 bike (if it's a legal frame and not stolen etc) and add a heap of money to the bike as it just became 4 years younger and will be on a 2007 plate! A buyer who didn't know the year colours could be caught out if you weren't honest.

I've heard talk that k3 swingarms are different maybe as people never seem to get huggers to fit them. Never heard that frames are different.

i think the swingarms are the same other than colour its the toolbox that changed places and made huggers change style.

Dude in your long winded post there not once did you answer my initial Query! As for notifying the Dvla, or swapping frame numbers its irrelevant, Hence why i did not mention it!

Subframe is higher on the K3 and the Swingarm has different mounting points for the Hugger .

I would be quite confident that it would be a straight swap. The engine has not changed significantly enough to have altered the mounting points. The subframe is different, but should be a direct swap over.

What you will end up with would be a K3 with a black frame. However, the point raised above is valid, you could equally well use the K7 frame (provided it came with a V5) and move your engine number onto that, giving you a 2007 bike. Of course this could be a bit of a 'mare for the next owner if they're not aware of the bike's history (they will have quite a hard time changing the non-existent 3rd and 4th spark plugs etc).

The K3 plastics might not fit onto a K7 frame , so if he slings his K3 Subframe onto the K7 frame he could use his original tail plastics ....... just give it a coat of black Smoothrite to make it looke like the frame
