I always opt for brake and clutch cleaner if I get greasy shtuff on tyres, seems to work well and never had an issue - might be really bad thing to put on rubber, but it works for me - in fact, it makes VERY light work of cleaning exhausts and swingarms too.

How much? If it's only a few drops then just ride it. Couple of miles and it will be gone. Go steady, it is very slippy.
N.B ACF50 takes longer than fork oil to burn off your brakes!

thanks for the tips lads.yorkie, yes its only a few drops, on the side walls mainly, where it as spun of the wheel. boot, i like the idea of brake cleaner! iv'e got some muc off brake cleaner, can smell acetone in it, but there are quite a few rubber bits on brake calipers and it does not seem to harm them. i'll give it a go, then a good wash and scrub with fairy liquid or stardrops then rinse it. once again thanks to you all. have a good christmas.
